Man accused of stalking in Gaston County while on bond for attempted murder

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Prosecutors say a man who was out on bond on an attempted murder charge is accused of stalking women all over Gaston County.

Christopher Lee Randolph is accused of stalking a woman who has since taken out a protective order against him.

The woman said she first saw Randolph at a hospital on Nov. 13, noting she had never seen him before. She said she saw him again on Dec. 4 while she was at a gas station and he followed her while she was taking her kids to school. She said he followed her home after she dropped her kids off.

“Followed her all the way around Mount Holly to the grocery stores and back to her residence where she lived,” prosecutor Stephanie Hamlin said.

Randolph told a judge Thursday that wasn’t true.

“I don’t know this lady at all,” he said.

But according to the protective order, the woman said Randolph approached her while she was in her driveway, asking if she remembered him.

“He told me I was very pretty and wanted to get to know me better,” the warrant reads.

When she told him she wasn’t interested, the woman said he followed her around Belmont for 15 to 20 minutes. She said she eventually pulled into the Mount Holly Police Department.

She filed the protective order against Randolph on Thursday.

Prosecutors said Randolph is also a suspect in similar cases. In one, he’s accused of following a woman at Tuckaseegee Park. Kassandra Mattingly said he stalked her as she walked with her 10-month-old child.

Mattingly said he followed her for half a mile as she tried to get away, and she said he had his cellphone camera aimed at her.

“He was 5 to 10 feet behind me,” she said.

She managed to get away.

Randolph faced a judge Thursday on the Mount Holly stalking charges and was given a $500,000 bond.

According to the assistant district attorney, Randolph was originally locked up for attempted murder in Mecklenburg County. He is accused of the attempted murder of a coworker, and has a GPS monitor that showed him following the victim in the protective order from place to place.
