Man charged with attempted murder after alleged attack on family

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — A man in Cabarrus County was charged with attempted murder and assault after he allegedly attacked family members shortly after midnight Tuesday.

Deputies were called to an assault call at 6350 County Line Road in Mount Pleasant. Dispatchers received a second call about a victim who was stabbed.

At the home, Christopher Daniel Martin, 48, confronted deputies and he was arrested without injury.

Christopher Martin’s wife, Wendy Martin, was stabbed multiple times and had other injuries.

Their adult son, Zachery Martin, had cuts on his head and Wendy Martin’s mother, had facial wounds, authorities said.

They were taken to a hospital.

Christopher Daniel Martin was charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault on a handicapped person and malicious conduct by a prisoner

Christopher Martin was placed in the Cabarrus County Detention Center without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
