CONOVER, N.C. — A man choking while driving caused a crash involving a big rig in Conover, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred on Interstate 40 westbound near mile marker 129 Friday morning.
Troopers said the man began choking while eating and passed out before striking a big rig and a van.
The crash caused one lane of Interstate 40 to be shut down.
Troopers said the man was not injured in the wreck, however, two children who were in the van were taken to an area hospital to be checked out.
