A man was found dead on train tracks at West 9th Street and North Smith Street in uptown Charlotte.
Victor Williams was pronounced dead at the scene around 12:20 a.m. Saturday, police said.
The preliminary investigation showed that Victor Williams was struck by a Norfolk Southern cargo train, police said.
Police are investigating if Williams was sitting, standing or attempting to cross the railroad tracks.
Police said that Williams was wearing dark clothing when he was hit.
Police said they do not know if alcohol or drugs were involved.
