GASTONIA, N.C. — Police said a man was seriously hurt when he was hit Tuesday morning while crossing a road in Gastonia.
The collision happened just a few feet off the curb at the intersection of West Franklin Boulevard and Webb Street, police said.
Officers said the man had serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
Channel 9's Gaston County bureau reporter Ken Lemon was at the scene and watched police and investigators, along with the district attorney's office, searched for clues.
Police said a Toyota Corolla was heading west on West Franklin Boulevard when the driver hit the 25-year-old victim.
Ken spoke to witnesses who said they saw the man lying in the street. The vehicle that hit him had its windshield shattered and hood dented.
The driver of that car remained at the scene and spoke with police before being allowed to leave with her family.
So far, no charges have been filed.
Part of West Franklin Boulevard was shut down for the investigation.
