Man says he was stabbed with screwdriver, choked with seatbelt during robbery

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A man told police he was able to escape from a car after being stabbed with a screwdriver and choked with a seatbelt during a robbery Monday night in Rock Hill.

According to the Rock Hill Police Department, officers met with the victim around 7:20 p.m. along Anderson Road. He told them he was riding with three other men in a black Nissan after cashing checks from work.

As the group drove to Anderson Road, the victim said the driver started stabbing him with a screwdriver and that the back seat passengers tried to strangle him with the seatbelt.

The suspects were able to steal the victim’s wallet before he was able to escape the car, according to police.

Officers said they saw several stab wounds consistent with a screwdriver on both the victim’s arms and also noticed redness on his neck.

The victim was taken to the hospital but will be OK, police said.

No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation.
