Mecklenburg County expands hours for public pools, Ramsey Creek Beach

CHARLOTTE — Beginning Wednesday, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation expanded the hours for outdoor pools as well as Ramsey Creek Beach.

Ramsey Creek Beach on Lake Norman will now be open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Beachgoers were offered free admission if they used the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) shuttle to get to the beach, but that service will now only be available on Labor Day weekend.

Fees for vehicle entrance to the beach are:

• Per vehicle – County resident, $10
• Per vehicle – Non-resident, $15
• Senior citizen or person with disability – County resident, $2
• Senior citizen or person with disability – Non-resident, $3

Both Double Oaks Family Aquatic Center and Cordelia Pool will be open Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The pools will operate in time slots of 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. for 1 1/2 hours of swimming and 30 minutes for cleaning between entry times.

Admission price is $2 per person. It’s first-come, first-served, but tickets can be bought same-day in advance.
