Mental health expert shares ways to cope instead of panic over coronavirus concerns

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Between schools closing and canceled events, the past few days have made it clear that there’s uncertainty about what’s to come with the coronavirus.

With everything going on, that can be hard for some people to wrap their head around.

“Clearly, there is a pandemic. It’s been established as that, so some anxiety about that is natural, and I think it’s important to validate that, but we want to watch out for it becoming excessive, it turning into panic, it affecting our mental health, as well,” said Dr. Kevin Gyoerkoe, an anxiety expert in Charlotte.
