Police said the pilot couldn't gain altitude and collided with a pine tree and crashed on the deck of the home in the 9300 block of Morgan Glenn Drive.

“I saw this purple thing come down on top of the house and I said, ‘Oh my Lord, a plane fell on top of the house,’” witness Helen Bartlett said.

Police said they called the Federal Aviation Administration, which will investigate.
