Minority and female owned vet clinic opens in southeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — A new state-of-the-art vet clinic is providing services in the Queen City.

Established by Drs. Sarah Blackwell, Derrick Prioleau, and Kevin Scruggs, Ark Veterinary Hospital offers care to large, small, and exotic animals at 6444 Albemarle Rd.

The animal hospital is a minority and female-owned business offering low-cost vaccine and spay/neuter clinics to all 501(c)(3) nonprofits and shelters throughout the Charlotte area. The clinic is also offering low-cost options to the general public for a limited time.

Other services offered by Ark Veterinary Hospital include same-day appointments, small animal surgery assistance to local vets, dental procedures for large and small animals, next-day surgery, x-rays, and ultrasounds.

Ark Veterinary Services LLC is based in Sumter, S.C., and provides service to nine of the state’s counties. In N.C., they serve Mecklenburg and Union counties.
