More than 400 flight delays reported at Charlotte Douglas

CHARLOTTE — Though the nasty weather is behind us, some are still feeling the impacts at the airport with hundreds of flights being delayed.

Channel 9′s Glenn Counts traveled to Charlotte Douglas Airport to speak with passengers about the wait.

According to FlightAware, more than 400 flights were delayed Saturday and over 30 flights had been canceled.

While there is no doubt that weather played a role, passengers told Channel 9 that the whole process was a headache.

“Today had been fine up till now. I’ve had a few alerts that my flights have been delayed, my connecting flight is delayed and I should be getting home at 12:45 this morning if all goes to play,” passenger Samantha Smith said.

Aneshia Collins said she drove to Charlotte from South Carolina to drop her daughter off, but she’s not leaving until she boards because her flight was delayed.

“It’s pretty inconvenient because we live in South Carolina. So it took an hour and 40 minutes to get here so it will take me that much time to get home,” Collins said.

Melissa Reck told Channel 9 that she flew up from Columbia only to have her Seatle connection canceled in Charlotte.

“It’s a little bit frustrating. It’s a work trip for me, so now in addition to the hotel I already paid for in Seattle tonight, I have to pay for an additional room here tonight and then I don’t have my luggage or anything,” Reck said.

A lot of people told Channel 9 that they just hope to get where they are going even if it’s late.
