Most bags now banned at Panthers games

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers host their first preseason game Friday night, and those who attend will be subject to some new security rules.

The Panthers have implemented a new NFL policy that limits the size and type of bags that can be taken into the stadium. Purses and most other bags will not be allowed, and the Panthers said they strongly encourage fans to not bring any type of bags.

A clutch purse a little bigger than a half sheet of notebook paper and transparent plastic or vinyl bags no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches are permitted.

Seat pads also must not have zippers or clasps and must not be encased in vinyl. Even some seat cushions given out by the team during previous seasons will not be allowed.

Banned are coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases and most purses.

NFL officials say the policy will provide a safer environment and make entering Bank of America Stadium much faster.
