CORNELIUS, N.C. — Barricades are set up, warning drivers about a massive sinkhole in a Cornelius neighborhood.
Neighbors said the hole in the Antiquity subdivision has grown to eight feet deep.
Friday night, the city told Channel 9 that it couldn't send anyone to inspect it until Monday at the earliest. But neighbors said it's a safety hazard and they want a solution sooner.
"That's a huge hole -- someone could be hurt. I think they patched this several months ago and now this is what we're dealing with, and as you can see it's a really deep hole," said Charla McEachin.
Neighbors said they're also concerned because there was another sinkhole in their neighborhood in April.
