BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina man is building a custom memorial piece for former NBA star Kobe Bryant.
The Bladen County man builds custom caskets for people throughout the Southeast.
A few weeks ago, Fletcher Collins got a call from a friend of the Bryant family.
The friend asked if Collins could create a memorial piece of art to honor Bryant, his daughter Gianna and the seven others killed in a helicopter crash
“I always dream high and hope big that one day I will do something for someone, really great to help them and their family with a loss,” Collins said. “I’m so honored and so humbled to be able to be a part of it.”
Collins plans to drive out to California with the memorial piece ahead of Bryant’s and Gianna’s public funeral held on Feb. 24.
