CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An armed man barricaded himself inside the Eastover Psychological & Psychiatric Group building on Latrobe Drive in southeast Charlotte for hours Wednesday, police said.
SWAT and other first responders were called to the mental health clinic after there was a suicide threat call made to emergency dispatchers.
Dispatch was told the man was wanting to "commit suicide by cop."
Everyone but the man evacuated the building and Charlotte-Mecklenburg police de-escalated the situation peacefully.
The man surrendered at 8:25 p.m.
Police said two firearms were seized and that no injuries were reported.
The man's name was not released.
