3 charged in deadly Albemarle drive-by shooting from 2018, police say

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — A 24-year-old man was shot and killed on Aug. 25, 2018 in a drive-by shooting in Albemarle, police said.

Officers responded just before 6 p.m. to Hill and Walnut streets where Brian Smith was found dead at the scene.

On Dec. 3, detectives made three arrests in connection with the murder.

Montie K. Brewer, 21, New London, Demetrion M. Pemberton, 21, of Albemarle, and Haywood J. Forte, 23, of Concord, were charged with murder.

The suspects are being held in the Stanly County Jail without bond.

No other details have been released.
