Police: Man held up Walgreens for prescription meds

BOONE, N.C. — Boone police are looking for the man they said held up a Walgreens and stole prescription drugs Sunday night.

Officers said the man entered the store on Blowing Rock Road around 9:30 p.m., told employees he had a gun and would use it if they didn't give him prescription meds.

After stealing the drugs, witnesses said the man jumped into a waiting blue or silver Ford van which was in the parking lot of Makato's

Police described the thief as a white man wearing a red and black horizontally striped jacket with blue jeans and black tennis shoes. They think he is between 20-30 years old.
