CONCORD, N.C. — Police are trying to track down a robber who allegedly took money at gunpoint from a store in Concord.
The owner of La Tiendita showed Channel 9 surveillance video. Channel 9 is protecting the identity of the clerk. In the video, the suspect walks in the shop with a large wig and what appears to be a handgun. In another frame, he appears to be taking cash from the register at gunpoint.
The crime has people who live and work in the area concerned.
"Out here alone, I'm very scared," Mary Machowski said.
Concord police are still investigating the armed robbery that happened Monday morning at the store on McGill Avenue.
Channel 9 asked if it's related to another armed robbery that happened last month at the nearby Home Towne Suites in Kannapolis. The wig is similar in both crimes, and Concord police said they have been in contact with Kannapolis officers. They're working together to see if there's a connection.
"We think we live in a safe world," Elma Medina, who works nearby, said. "But there [are] people out there that are crazy, and they could do anything, just for money."
Anyone with information about either crime is urged to call the Cabarrus Area Crime Stoppers.
