CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department discovered a marijuana grow operation after a pipe burst at an east Charlotte apartment complex.
On Friday, police helped the Charlotte fire department on a call about a burst pipe at an apartment complex on Carya Pond Lane.
When they investigated, they found the door of one of the apartments open and smelled a strong marijuana odor. Fire department officials and police officers entered the apartment to see if anyone needed help inside the flooded apartment.
The officers noticed the plants and after obtaining a search warrant, searched the apartment.
Police officers seized 22 marijuana plants and other items used to grow the drug.
