A woman was shot three times in the second shooting, and she survived.

Residents said they're scared but can't go anywhere else.

Eyewitness News reporter Trish Williford asked police what steps they're taking to keep people safe at the apartment complex.

Chief Rodney Monroe has been meeting with property managers at Lake Arbor Apartments

Officers with the Freedom Division said for two years they've fought hard against the violence along a stretch of Tuckaseegee Road.

"It's very serious and to me it's a trend that's going on there," said Lt. Andy Royston, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Freedom Division.

Royston was one of dozens of CMPD officers who rushed to Lake Arbor Apartments on Monday night.

So far, one case remains unsolved and police don't know if they're connected.

Lake Arbor, formerly known as Timberbrook, is one of several apartments along Tuckaseegee Road
that have been a haven for crime for years, authorities said.

Residents point out the conditions there where there are cracks in the building and stray dogs in the parking lot but when it comes to the violence, some are indifferent.

"It sounds crazy, but I'm really kind of immune to it now it happens so much," Jecorey Roseborough said.

New owners have taken over the apartments over the past few months and they've pledged to put a lot of money into it, police said.

But authorities said it will take help from the entire neighborhood to stop the violence.

The new owners are investing more than $4 million on upgrades to the complex, they also plan to hire security and promise to conduct more strenuous background checks, said City Councilwoman LaWana Mayfield.
