Proposed development in NoDa meets pushback from neighbors

CHARLOTTE — A recently proposed development that would remake a prime piece of property in NoDa is facing mounting opposition from nearby residents. That’s according to The Charlotte Observer, which reports a growing group of people in the neighborhood is pushing back on a plan for mixed-use development along 36th Street.

CBJ’s Ashley Fahey reported on the project last month. Ascent Real Estate Capital and Centro Cityworks are expected to acquire the former Johnston Memorial Presbyterian Church site later this year. Ascent has filed a rezoning petition to build up to 225 residential units and about 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space on the property.
