CHARLOTTE — Dallas commercial real estate firm CBRE is intent on remaking the tenant mix — and reputation — of the former EpiCentre complex in uptown Charlotte.

Kaitlyn Fitch, CBRE retail broker, said that while they have a long way to go before the once-bustling development is again full, community members and prospective tenants are excited about the potential of the complex that has been rebranded Queen City Quarter.

Fitch said the firm has moved away from bar and nightlife concepts that the EpiCentre became known for. Instead, the focus is on bringing a variety of higher-end dining spots to the property, as well as office users, a wine bar, fitness concepts, coworking and more fast-casual or grab-and-go food options. To do this, Fitch said CBRE created a merchandising plan for prospective tenants to ensure everyone is on the same page.

CBRE announced four new tenants last week that will occupy a total of 8,289 square feet at the 302,324-square-foot mixed-use development at 210 E. Trade St. Portal 123 and Cajun Market will open in the second quarter of the year. Nostalgia Hollow Co. and Super Icy Brothers will open in the third quarter. Previously announced renovations and improvements to the property are also slated to begin in late spring.
