S.C. senators push for new law to increase fines, jail times for speeding in construction zones

SOUTH CAROLINA — Senators in South Carolina are pushing for a new state law to increase fines and jail times for speeding in construction zones.

Currently, those ticketed in work zones face a maximum fine of $200 and 30 days in jail.

However, under the proposal, the fines could go up to $5,000 with two years in prison.

Senators expect the law to pass in 2014.
