CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A serious crash Tuesday morning in the southern part of Catawba County shut down part of Highway 16 for more than two hours.
An 18-wheeler rear-ended a car and then hit another big rig traveling in the opposite direction, troopers said.
One of the tractor-trailers was hauling a flatbed that appeared to have some kind of product in bags. Eyewitness News reporter Dave Faherty said it appeared the product spilled all over the road.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Two people were taken to the hospital, but are expected to be OK.
