MORVEN, N.C. — After a Channel 9 investigation uncovered allegations at a local volunteer department, the state and county were looking into them.
Some Anson County and Morven town leaders publicly shared their concerns that Chief Mark Holloway was not spending the money appropriately.
The Anson County sheriff announced Thursday no criminal charges will be filed. He had some tough words for the agency.
"I certainly recommend that the (Morven Volunteer Fire) department establish prudent organizational policies, better record keeping of meeting minutes and develop accounting policies on handling funds and paying bills," said Sheriff Tommy Allen.
