GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia man who was reported Friday was located "alive and well," Gastonia Police said.
Police said 55-year-old Russell Roby, who has the mental capacity of a small child, had last been seen around 3:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Laurel Hill Lane.
Roby has been reunited with his family after a group of volunteers spent the day searching.
Police said Roby left his residence and didn’t return Friday. Family members told police it was normal for him to walk the woods and trails behind the residence.
Officials described Roby as being 6-feet tall and weighing about 150 pounds with a thin build.
Police said Roby has a speech impediment and normally wears hearing aids. At the time Roby walked away, officials said he wasn’t wearing hearing aids due to an ear infection.
