CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sleepy Poet owner Dickson Shreffler is investing about $5 million into a new home for the brand.
He’s snapped up a 6-acre parcel — formerly home to Banner Service Corp. — after leasing another South Boulevard space for that antique mall for the last 13 years.
“I was really looking for a permanent home,” Shreffler says.
The rapid development in South End, combined with a fast-moving real estate market helped influence his decision, he adds. Shreffler invested $4.4 million into real estate and expects upfit costs around $500,000.
“I was kind of at the mercy of my landlord. I had no control over if we’d even have a home in two years,” Shreffler says.
Plans call for Sleepy Poet to open in that new location by Sept. 1. Read more here about what to expect there.
