CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are looking for a man after a south Charlotte woman claimed she was nearly kidnapped Saturday.
The attack happened just after 5 p.m. off Providence Road and International Drive, according to a police report.
“It’s terrifying. It makes me scared to go on walks around my area, my neighborhood,” said neighbor Julia Murray.
The woman said she was walking near her apartment when a man approached her in an older black Dodge without plates or tags.
She said he asked her for directions and she leaned in to respond. That’s when the woman said the suspect hit her head and tried to pull her into the car.
She was able to get away and called police.
“It makes me nervous to do that or to wear headphones when I walk because you could not hear someone coming,” said Murray.
The victim had minor injuries, including bruises and scratches. She said the car was in very poor condition with black duct tape on the front left fender area.
Other women in the area said they want everyone to be vigilant in case they see someone else in need of help.
