WAXHAW, N.C. — Strong storms packed a punch in south of Charlotte, where lightning was to blame for at least two house fires in Waxhaw.
The two houses struck were on Wingfoot Drive in Waxhaw.
Nate Lee was in one of the houses when it was hit, and he escaped with a bag and their dog.
“Luckily, I got out,” Lee said. “We're all safe. Still just scary to know that. I never thought this would happen to our house.”
Another home caught on fire on Lilliesleaf Glenn Lane in Ballantyne. Fire officials confirmed the house was struck by lightning, which caused about $300,000 worth of damage.
