Students from the Carolinas compete at Scripps National Spelling Bee

CHARLOTTE — The winner has been crowned after the 95th Scripps National Spelling Bee this week.
Unfortunately, it’s another year of no winners from the Carolinas, but several local students progressed through the rounds of the event in Washington, D.C.
A 14-year-old from Florida, Dev Shah, won the championship by spelling the word “psammophile” correctly, according to Reuters.
