Suspect in home invasions, chase makes court appearance

STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — A suspect in a four-county chase and two home invasions faced a judge Thursday.

Jarvis Marsh made a court appearance via video in Cabarrus County.

He is being held under a $1 million bond after being accused in home invasions, a chase and a shootout with officers.

Channel 9 checked into Marsh’s past and found he has a criminal record that dates back to 2002. State records show he was convicted of communicating threats and injury to property that year. In 2008, he was convicted of resisting arrest by an officer. Most recently in 2009, he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Marsh was just released from jail in January.

Deputies said toward the end of Wednesday’s crime spree, Marsh stole a police car and led them on a chase. Marsh was shot and later arrested, but another man was able to get away, police said.

A neighbor in one of the communities impacted by the crime spree said she hopes he is caught soon.

“He’ll never come back here though, that would be stupid.  If he was even close he wouldn’t think about it,” said neighbor Beverly Kappes.

Channel 9 has reached out to police to find out if they have any new leads, but so far they have not released any new details.
