CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Thousands kicked off the holiday and beat the cold with a run Thursday.
This year marked the 25th annual Turkey Trot in Southpark.
People could choose to walk or run one mile, a 5K or 8K.
The top three finishers in the 8K received cash awards.
"It's just a really good, fun, feel-good event with a lot of people who have just gotten used to coming out every year," said Neil Howard, race director.
This year's Turkey Trot also featured a costume contest.
