CHARLOTTE — Crews will begin clearing out the pond at Freedom Park this week.
The park will stay open, but some trails will be closed.
The parking lot at Whittington Field will also be closed on weekday mornings.
Mecklenburg County Park and Rec asked everyone to keep their distance from the dredging construction.
Work is expected to be finished in the summer.
