CONOVER, N.C. — Schneider National Carriers Inc. will shutter its Conover terminal and lay off 73 employees in the coming weeks after a corporate decision to discontinue a delivery service around the nation.

All of the jobs will be eliminated by Sept. 30, writes Rob Bulick, senior vice president and general manager of the First to Final Mile program for Schneider. The layoffs were disclosed Aug. 1 in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filing.
