TSA: Gun found in carry-on bag at Charlotte airport

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police arrested a man at Charlotte-Douglas Airport Wednesday morning after they found a gun in his carry-on bag.

William Barron faces a charge of possession of firearm on city property.

A Transportation Security Administration agent found the weapon at a security checkpoint.

Barron told officers he didn't know it was in his bag.

TSA agents in Charlotte have confiscated dozens of guns and ammunition from checkpoints in the past year.

Just this year alone, 17 guns have been found at Charlotte-Douglas.

That is compared with nine at this time last year. Last year, agents found 26 guns at the airport.
