Two Hickory health care workers die after contracting COVID-19, families say

HICKORY, N.C. — Two local health care workers have died after they both contracted COVID-19, their families told Channel 9.

CNA Paul Glass and nurse Carla Wilson died within 24 hours of each other. Channel 9 learned they both worked together at the Brian Center in Hickory.

Their families, friends and coworkers said they are still in shock. A vigil was held Wednesday night in their memory.

The Brian Center sent a statement to Channel 9 saying, in part:

“These individuals were hard-working, diligent and loyal staff who worked every day to provide quality care to the residents we have the privilege to serve. Center staff will certainly miss their bright face and enthusiastic attitudes.”
