Two major mixed-use projects in Cornelius headed for final votes

CORNELIUS, N.C. — Two major projects planned in Cornelius each cleared a key hurdle this week, moving them closer to final approval.

The projects, named Greenway Gartens and Caroline, had their rezoning requests recommended for approval by the Cornelius Planning Board. They would be at South Street and Zion Avenue and span over 40 acres in total, town documents state. Greenway Gartens is proposed by Northwood Ravin, which is working with The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery to bring a new location there. Caroline is being led by Charlotte-based Proffitt Dixon Partners.

In total, the two projects would include an initial phase of 650 residential units and 34,000 square feet of commercial space.
