VIDEO: Hickory family surprises food delivery drivers with huge tips

HICKORY, N.C. — A family in Hickory is spreading holiday cheer this week in the form of huge cash tips.

Amanda Walker wanted to help others this year when so many have lost jobs and income.

“There was a need for some kind of blessing,” Walker said. “It was a very tough year with COVID.”

Walker’s family decided to help delivery drivers and asked for donations on Facebook.

Absolute Tree Care, Walker’s client, donated hundreds of dollars toward the effort.

Melody Wallace delivered food from Geppetos Pizza last week and got a big surprise.

A Facebook video started to roll on the joyous occasion.

Walker presented Wallace with trivia questions on the outside of several envelopes. Wallace opened the envelopes she answered right and inside each one, was money. Wallace cashed out that night with $605.

Wallace said Tuesday that she shared the money with co-workers.

“Y’all gonna make me cry,” Wallace said on the video. “Y’all gonna make the nights of the people at the store tonight OK.”
