CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Friends and family members remembered a woman police said was killed by her boyfriend in west Charlotte.
Those close to Sarah Acker, 53, say she was a loving mother and can't believe she died so tragically.

Family and friends held a candlelight vigil at Camp Greene Park Saturday night.

"She was an awesome auntie and we had fun together," a family member said.
Family and friends said Acker was a fighter who always stood up for what she believed in.
"Being in the hair salon, you share some intimate times and Sarah talked about a lot of things but her spirit never changed," one person at the vigil said.
She was found dead inside her home on State Street Wednesday.
Police believe Acker was killed by her live-in boyfriend, Jerry Hunter, who has been charged in her death.
Mothers of Murdered Offspring held the vigil.
