Volunteer firefighter dies while working at Lincoln County industrial plant

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A volunteer firefighter died Tuesday in an industrial accident in Lincoln County, officials said.

Dewayne Adams served with the North Gaston Fire Department for the past five years.

Officials said he was killed while working at American Tire Distributors.

Adams’ fellow volunteer firefighters said he was an incredible man.

"Very good fella,” North Gaston Volunteer Fire Department Chief Dennis Cash said. “(He would) go the extra mile when you wanted him to and always glad to help people."

Funeral arrangements for Adams have not been released.
