Walnut Grill finds spot for first of several planned restaurants in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — Kirk Vogel liked the location of the property in a fast-growing suburban area of Charlotte with 6,800 square feet of second-generation restaurant space with which to work.

But perhaps the biggest deal sweetener was the 1,000 square feet on which to spread out an ample patio, further convincing Vogel and Walnut Grill to commit to its first restaurant location in North Carolina. That spot, at 15719 Brixham Hill Ave. in Ballantyne, is expected to be one of as many as four new restaurants in the Charlotte market.

It’s a Pittsburgh restaurant chain that has kept growing through the pandemic — in part due to its ability to serve customers inside or outside through the challenges and restrictions of Covid-19.
