CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Channel 9 investigation found heroin was passed and sold in front of innocent Charlotte families.
Four people are responsible for these crimes but what was most disturbing was one of the drug transactions happened in broad daylight where adults and children work, shop and eat, according to warrants.
Tonight, those four people are facing felony heroin trafficking charges following an investigation channel 9 uncovered in a warrant.
The drug trafficking investigation was centered on Edgar Barrios and Marcos Ramirez.
Detectives said they followed the pair from a home on Marlowe Avenue to a vehicle salvage yard on North Tryon Street, where they witnessed the first drug deal of the day.
Later that morning, detectives followed the men to the Walmart on Wilkinson Boulevard, according to the warrant.
Barrios walked into the store and met with James Austin, detectives said.
They questioned Austin and a woman he was with and they "admitted they had purchased heroin," the warrant stated.
The next stop was the Wendy's near Ashley Road and minutes later, detectives pulled over the pair on Interstate 85 near Brookshire Boulevard.
During that stop, the warrant said they found bags of heroin on Barrios and in a McDonald's bag.
Detectives went back to the home on Marlowe Avenue, where they spotted a woman who lived there.
After getting a warrant, detectives found more than $15,000, heroin, coffee grinders, a digital scale, sandwich bags, electrical tape, drug ledgers and Moneygram receipts.
All of the suspects are facing drug trafficking and other drug-related charges
