CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Part of WT Harris Boulevard remains closed after a water line broke on Monday.
Crews are still working to repair the roadway.
CMUD restored water to hundreds of people in east Charlotte just before 1 a.m. Tuesday.
A 12-inch water line broke near Wallace Avenue Monday morning, eventually eating away the asphalt and flooding the street. Crews cut off water to repair the pipe.
Officials said crews will replace a storm drain and begin backfilling the trench on Tuesday, then start paving the road on Wednesday. Detours will remain in place until Thursday morning.
“I'm on this road at least twice a week and I'm going to have to find a new way to go around, so it's going to take me a little more time,” driver Ellen McReynolds said.
