CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The anchor tenant of a major redevelopment in South End is ready to debut, marking the latest retail opening at Atherton Mill. Home decor, furniture and design retailer West Elm opens its doors at Atherton Mill on Thursday in what will be its second location in the Charlotte market.
The new West Elm location in South End, at 2140 South Blvd., follows a store in midtown Charlotte's Metropolitan complex — about two miles away.

That latter location is of a similar size as the South End store — at 15,000 square feet — though the space configuration is different.
The South End location, for instance, has a larger showroom, which features open space and ample natural light from large floor-to-ceiling windows.
"There's more showroom space, which of course means we are able to feature more product and have a wider variety of merchandise," said Shane Breazeale, general manager of the South End store.
Here's a look at what shoppers will find there.
