Woman dies after boyfriend assaulted her, police say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man is now charged with murder after police said he pushed his girlfriend so hard she lost consciousness.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Emanee Womack, 34, died Sunday morning, a day after the attack.

Police said Sharrandon Adams, 31, told them he and Womack were fighting when he pushed her.

Adams was already in jail for the assault.
