Woman killed after car crashes into tree in Union Co identified

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Troopers were investigating a deadly crash late Sunday night in Union County.

Officials told Channel 9 that Jasmine Sturdivant, 22, from Charlotte, was killed around 11:15 p.m. when she lost control of the car she was driving on Ridge Road near Indian Trail Fairview Road, overcorrected and ran down an embankment before crashing into a tree.

Troopers did say that speed played a role in the crash.
