YORK COUNTY, S.C. — York County officials said they will honor one of the K-9s Friday who was caught in last year’s deadly officer ambush.
The sheriff’s office said it will hold a special ceremony for the bloodhound Gabby on Friday afternoon and give her a medal of valor.
Police said Sgt. Randy Clinton was the first of four officers shot in January of last year when he and Gabby were helping search for Christian McCall, when McCall ambushed them.
Clinton and three others were shot, including Det. Mike Doty, who died, officials said.
Clinton just returned to work last month, nearly a year after the ambush.
McCall pleaded guilty and is serving life in prison.
