Lockdown lifted at 5 Caldwell Co. schools

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C.,None — Five schools in Caldwell County were placed on lockdown on Thursday morning. The lockdown was lifted around 9:45 a.m.

The Sheriff's Office said they received a threat Wednesday night involving a teenager who ran away from home.

The schools include South Caldwell High School, Hibriten High School, Oak Hill Elementary School, Kings Creek Elementary and Lower Creek Elementary.

The school district told Channel 9 that classes will continue as normal on Thursday inside the schools, but students will not be allowed outside.

Extra law enforcement officers will be present at the schools.
