CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — A 27-year-old mother of six was killed in an overnight shooting at a north Charlotte club.
Jaquina Harris was shot in the parking lot of a club called Silver Fox, located on Statesville Avenue, at about 2 a.m., police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the shooting happened after a fight broke out near the club's entrance. Several people were involved, according to investigators. Shortly after the fight started, someone pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots, police said.
According to police, Harris, who was leaving the club as the fight broke out, was an innocent bystander and was hit by a stray bullet.
"It's hard for me. It's going to be hard for the kids," Anthony Talley, the father of Harris's children, said.
"She left six small kids alone, by themselves. Somebody took their mother away," Harris's aunt, Patricia Harris-McMurray, said.
