Cam Newton practicing 'Down Under' through Gatorade program

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is in Australia with the Richmond Tigers for the Gatorade Football Exchange Program.

While in Australia, Newton is learning about Australian Rules Football, training with the team and taking some of the skills he learns back to the NFL playing field.

He will sit through team meetings and training meals to see how the Australian Rules players train, practice and fuel their bodies in preparation for the season,

The Gatorade Football Exchange provides athletes from American Football and Australian Rules Football an opportunity to immerse themselves in the training and culture of another footballer's sport.

Newton told the Richmond Tigers' club website he had never watched an AFL game prior to attending one Friday night.

"It's an extremely physical game," Newton told the site. "In our sport, they're constantly putting things on you to protect you. In this sport, they're taking things away."
